Business Coaching

Business coaching for
owner-operators.

Profitable but chaotic is still chaotic. If the whole thing only works because you touch every part of it, you don’t own a business — it owns you. This is one-on-one coaching for owner-operators ready to change that.

30 minutes. No cost. No pressure. An honest look at what’s actually constraining your growth.

Entrepreneur planning at a whiteboard

Sound familiar?

The business doesn’t
run without you.

You’ve outgrown the stage where hustle was the strategy. The work comes in, the invoices go out, and every decision still lands on your desk — including the ones you hired people to make.

More effort won’t fix this one. What’s missing is structure: systems that don’t need you, people who are actually trusted to lead, and an owner who has stopped doing his team’s job.

  • You’re the bottleneck — nothing meaningful moves until you look at it.
  • You hired good people and somehow still do their thinking for them.
  • There’s no plan past this quarter, just whatever the week throws at you.
  • You can’t take two weeks off without the whole thing wobbling — so you don’t.

The work

From operator
to owner.

We start with what’s actually happening, not what the plan says should be happening. Then we rebuild in the order that holds.

01

Audit

An honest picture of how the business really runs — where time goes, where money leaks, and which of the things only you can do only you can do because of how it was built.

02

Systems

Operations, delegation and hiring frameworks so the standard lives in the process instead of in your head. If it can’t survive you being unreachable, it isn’t finished.

03

Leadership

Developing you, and the key people you’re relying on. Most delegation failures aren’t capability problems — they’re clarity problems the owner created.

04

Growth

A staged roadmap with milestones you can be held to, and a coach who will actually hold you to them when the quarter gets busy.

What you get

Accountability at
owner level.

Most owner-operators don’t have anyone above them. No boss, no board, no one who notices when the important work quietly slips behind the urgent work for the ninth week running.

That’s the gap this fills. One-on-one, built around your business and your actual constraint — with someone who will ask what happened to the thing you committed to last month.

It starts with a free 30-minute discovery call. If what you need is a bookkeeper, a marketing agency or a technical specialist rather than a coach, I’ll point you there instead.

What’s included

  • A full business & systems audit
  • Operations, delegation and hiring frameworks
  • A staged growth roadmap with clear milestones
  • Leadership development for you and your key people
  • Owner-level accountability on execution
  • A plan reviewed and adjusted as the business changes

If nothing moves until you look at it, the constraint isn’t your team.

A short read on how to tell whether you’re the bottleneck — and the first three things to hand off if you are.

Be honest with yourself

Who this actually
works for.

This is for you if…

  • You’re past startup and into the stage where the old way has stopped scaling.
  • You’ll act on an uncomfortable answer instead of defending the current setup.
  • You want to build people, not just processes.
  • You’re willing to be held to what you said you’d do.

This isn’t for you if…

  • You want a done-for-you consultant to hand you a strategy deck.
  • You’re looking for marketing, bookkeeping or technical services.
  • You want growth without changing how you operate as the owner.
  • You’re not actually prepared to let anyone else make a decision.

How it works

I hired Mat to help me prep for the hardest interview I have ever done! He is an amazing man to work with! He takes the time to get to know you and what your goals are! And really knows how to get the best out of you!

Great experience with this company. They helped me prepare for interviews and taught me how to structure answers using the STAR format, which made my responses much clearer and more confident. Highly recommend their coaching to anyone looking to improve their interview skills.

Questions

What owners
ask first.

You’re a firefighter. What do you know about my business?

Fair question, and worth asking of any coach. I’m not going to out-expert you on your trade, your market or your margins — that’s your job and you know it better than I will.

What I bring is the part most owner-operators are actually stuck on: decision-making under pressure, building people, holding standards when it’s inconvenient, and doing the thing you said you’d do when nobody is checking. Fifteen years in a service where those failures have consequences is a reasonable place to have learned it.

Is this business consulting or coaching?

Coaching. A consultant studies your business and hands you a recommendation. A coach builds the owner, because in a business this size the owner is the constraint.

We’ll get into systems, delegation and structure — but the work is making you the kind of operator who runs them, not writing a document you file and forget.

My business is profitable. Why would I need this?

Profitable and sustainable aren’t the same thing. Plenty of businesses make money entirely because the owner absorbs every gap personally — which works right up until it doesn’t.

If the revenue depends on you touching everything, you don’t have an asset. You have a demanding job you can’t quit.

I can’t afford to take time out of the business right now.

That’s usually the strongest argument that something needs to change. A business that can’t spare its owner for an hour a week is telling you something specific about how it’s built.

We work with the time you actually have, and fixing that constraint is generally one of the first things on the plan.

What size of business is this for?

Owner-operators and small teams — typically a few people, sometimes a few dozen. Trades, service businesses, and owners who are past the startup scramble and into the stage where the old way of running things has stopped scaling.

What does it cost?

The discovery call is free. Coaching is priced as an ongoing one-on-one engagement; I’ll give you a straight number on the call once I understand the business and the constraint, rather than a figure on a page that has to fit every owner who reads it.

Do you work with businesses outside the trades?

Yes. The pattern — a capable owner who has become the bottleneck — shows up in agencies, clinics, contractors, restaurants and professional practices alike. What matters is the stage, not the sector: past startup, into the phase where the old way has stopped scaling.

What happens on the free discovery call?

Thirty minutes. You walk me through how the business actually runs — not the org chart, the reality. I’ll tell you where I think the real constraint is.

If that turns out to be something a coach can’t fix, I’ll say so rather than take you on.

This is the next step

the owner you become.
